---- ====== Wheels ====== The original sleek 7 spoke alloys are unique to the Z1 and only ever fitted to this model, they came with a plastic centre cap and removal tool located in your tool compartment. The stud pattern and offset are identical to the E30 and as such alternative wheel designs can be fitted to suit. * Size - 7.5 x 16 * Tyres - 225 45 16 * design - 7 Spoke * Centre Bore - 57.1 * Offset - ET25 * Bolt - 12 x 150 * Stud - 4 x 100 {{:images.jpeg?200|}} {{:13-1989-bmw-z1-qs-1.jpg?200|}} The original Tyres are Pirelli P7000 and despite being discontinued for many years, they can still be found on some cars 20 years on. 16inch wheels are rarely made these days and as such 16inch Tyres are becoming scarce, major manufacturers such as Pirelli, Michelin ceasing production of 225 45 16 Tyres. Originality reigns supreme in the UK, but there are a number of choices still available in 4 stud if you search hard enough, such as Hartge, Alpina, OZ, BBS. ---- ===== Removing/Installing ===== Pull off wheel cap with wheel cap puller (car tools). **Important!** Wheel is balanced electronically. Proceed as follows to avoid remounting mistakes and imbalance. * Loosen wheel bolts. * Position wheel that valve is at bottom; reinstall in same position. * If more than one wheel is removed at same time, mark location of wheels on the tires (e.g. with chalk). * Mark position of wheel to wheel hub (to avoid remounting mistakes). * Mark position of wheel lock to wheel (to avoid imbalance). * Unscrew wheel bolts. {{:wl1.jpg?|}} Installation:Tighten wheel bolts crosswise. Tightening torque = 100 ± 10 Nm. Recheck tightening torque after 1,000 km, if new wheel rims are installed for first time. {{:wl2.jpg?|}} **Installation:** Clean wheel center centering collar and bearing surfaces of wheel rim and coat with Plastilube (available from HWB). Check wheel bolt threads and taper for wear, replacing wheel bolts if necessary. Lubricate wheel bolts threads lightly, but tapers must not be lubricated for installation. {{:wl3.jpg?|}}
